G.H.W.R. Youth Center October Activities

Check out what's going on at the Youth Center in October!

This month's Highlight Activities:

10/22 Pumpkin Carving - Get into the spirit of Halloween by carving a cool design into a pumpkin and display it for all of your friends and family to see!

10/23 Sugar Skulls - Sugar skulls are used to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. Join us as we teach participants how to make these beautiful and delicious pieces of art.

Futsal Mania: Kings of SoccerThe GHWR Youth Center is offering an indoor soccer tournament for youth ages 14-20. This tournament will start on October 2nd and games will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-8PM. The registration fee is $10 per team with 5 players per team. Deadline to register will be on October 1st. For more details, contact 768-3247.

Guitars Not Guns - Guitars Not Guns is an eight week program that provides free guitar lessons for beginners ages 10-18. The program is currently seeking volunteers to assist in teaching beginner and intermediate guitar classes. The program is also accepting donations of unused guitars and/or other musical instruments. For more information on volunteering or making a donation, call 768-3294.

"GIFT" Youth Talent CompetitionWhat's your "gift"? We are seeking performers who are ages 6-22. If you can sing, rap, dance, play an instrument or tell jokes, we want you to share your gift! There will be special guest judges, prizes, raffles, and more! The event is on Friday, November 9th, starting at 7PM. To register, visit the Youth Center and pick up an application. The deadline to register is Thursday, October 25th. For more information, call 768-3294. Proceeds from this event will go to support the Hip Hop for Hope event.

Hip Hop for Hope 2This event is offered in collaboration with local music group, Villederberg Music. The event will have live musical performances, special guests, raffles, and much more! Last year, this event collected up to 75 toys and 150 pounds of food that was donated to Toys for Tots and the Second Harvest Food Bank. This year, it will be on Friday, December 7th, starting at 7PM. We are currently seeking volunteers and sponsors. For more information, call 768-3294.
