According to a media release, the theme for this year's conference is "Open." Anyone whose experiences, projects, work or creativity speak of openness, beginnings, transparency, radical availability and open-source initiatives are encouraged to apply through the organization's website.
"We are seeking storytellers and visionaries who can open the connection between head and heart among TEDxSantaCruz attendees and incite actions that lead to more openness in the world," said organizer David Warren in the release. "We're seeking applications from anyone who wants to engage our audience with new ideas and perspectives."
Know someone who fits this criteria? Speaker nominations can also be made through the site.
Talks can be anywhere between three and 18 minutes long, according to the organization's website.
TEDxSantaCruz was launched locally last year and was met with sell-out success, the release states. This year's TEDx will take place at Cabrillo College's Crocker Theater.
The daylong event features two sessions of talks, a picnic lunch and a post-event reception where attendees can mingle with speakers. TED videos will also be shown and small group discussion is encouraged.
TEDxSanta Cruz 2012 is Saturday, September, 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Crocker Theater, located on the Cabrillo College campus. Tickets are now sale and can be purchased through the organization's website.
