Help us restore the Watsonville Enterprise Zone!

The State of California has allowed the Watsonville Enterprise Zone to expire as of April 30, 2012—without even giving us the opportunity to apply for a new zone. Read on to help!

Dear Watsonville Business Community,

As I am sure you are now aware, the State of California has allowed the Watsonville Enterprise Zone to expire as of April 30, 2012—without even giving us the opportunity to apply for a new zone. This, along with our now dismantled Redevelopment Agency, was one of the two financial tools we had to bring new businesses to Watsonville and to support our existing business community.

Unfortunately, both tools are gone—but there is hope that we can restore our Enterprise Zone. Assembly Member Alejo (Watsonville) has authored a bill that will extend our zone—retroactively—until such time as the State either amends the Enterprise Zone Act or we are given an opportunity to apply for a new Enterprise Zone.

The bill is AB464 and you can support our efforts to extend this vital tax relief program for our community by visiting www.jobsandsafecommunities.com.

Thank you for supporting our local business community and feel free to respond if you have questions or call us at (831) 768-3087.

Sincerely,

Kurt Overmeyer
Economic Development Manager

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

We got one too sweetcakes (some caring person actually tucked it into my door handle so it wouldn'tRead More blow away) even though I have a "No on T" sign in my yard. The "Yes on T" is all lies anyway so it went right into my recycle bin. Perhaps it was just coincidence but they came while we were at the City Council meeting last night. Go figure.
