Help us restore the Watsonville Enterprise Zone!

The State of California has allowed the Watsonville Enterprise Zone to expire as of April 30, 2012—without even giving us the opportunity to apply for a new zone. Read on to help!

Dear Watsonville Business Community,

As I am sure you are now aware, the State of California has allowed the Watsonville Enterprise Zone to expire as of April 30, 2012—without even giving us the opportunity to apply for a new zone. This, along with our now dismantled Redevelopment Agency, was one of the two financial tools we had to bring new businesses to Watsonville and to support our existing business community.

Unfortunately, both tools are gone—but there is hope that we can restore our Enterprise Zone. Assembly Member Alejo (Watsonville) has authored a bill that will extend our zone—retroactively—until such time as the State either amends the Enterprise Zone Act or we are given an opportunity to apply for a new Enterprise Zone.

The bill is AB464 and you can support our efforts to extend this vital tax relief program for our community by visiting www.jobsandsafecommunities.com.

Thank you for supporting our local business community and feel free to respond if you have questions or call us at (831) 768-3087.

Sincerely,

Kurt Overmeyer
Economic Development Manager

Kurt--It's kind of hard to find the link to where you write your letter. Perhaps you can help people navigate that.

Unfortunately - there isn't a direct URL. If you would like to voice your support, please click the "Take Action" button in the orangeish yellow box on the right hand side of the site. Thanks for the heads up Ariel!
