City Gives PAL One More Year

The Police Activities League is hosting a fundraising BBQ on Saturday.

The Watsonville Police Activities League will survive another year, the Watsonville City Council decided when it approved the city's final budget Tuesday night.

The youth program, which had been on the chopping block along with police officer positions and other city jobs, will retain its staff and city-owned building on Rodriguez Street for one more year.

The program will be fundraising to cover other operating costs, including a benefit BBQ from 1-4 p.m. Saturday in Muzzio Park, next door to the PAL building. Tickets for the June 15 event are $10, and are being sold at PAL and at Cassidy's Pizza on Freedom Boulevard. They include lunch and lots of youth activities.
