Corralitos Music Series - This Sunday's Show at 6:00 pm

Singer/Songwriters George Kincheloe, Marty Atkinson, and Scott Beynon perform this Sunday evening at the Corralitos Cultural Center.

The interesting thing about hosting a music series is that your practical side wants to bring in known entities (locals who draw a crowd) while your better artsy half really wants to show off songwriters that you think deserve a chance to be heard. The angle here is that after you put on enough shows, hopefully the audience you've built for your little series realizes that you're picky, you have good taste, and when they come see to someone you present, they know that they'll come away jazzed about "discovering" a new artist they can't wait to see again.

For this Sunday's June entry in the "Corralitos Music Series," I'm taking a bit of both halves as we give the night to songwriters George Kincheloe, Marty Atkinson, and Scott Beynon. George and Marty (and George's late wife Lisa Atkinson (no relation to Marty) were quite well known on the San Jose folk circuit until we lost Lisa two years ago. Now performing as "Kincheloe-Atkinson-Beynon", they combine several decades worth of experience and music cred as a very powerful new trio of singers, songwriters, and multi-instrumentalists.

I'm new to blogging here at Patch, so here's a bit about the series if you're not familiar with it. The shows lean towards acoustic singer-songwriters and takes place every other month at the Corralitos Cultural Center at 129 Hames Road in Watsonville.

Note: We *might* move these to a monthly thing. Keep reading my blogs here at Patch or check for updates over on my regular web site at michaelgaither.com.

For the series itself, we've decided to formally adopt the name "Corralitos Music Series". (It fits much nicer on a banner than the long-winded alternatives we were tossing around.) This Sunday's show begins at 6:00 pm and runs to the work-night-friendly hour of 9:00 pm. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Snacks will be at the ready, and I'll likely do a few songs to kick off the night after the break.

If you're interested in what acoustic music is supposed to sound like, here's your chance in a great room with a great trio of musicians. I hope you can join us. Email me in advance if  you'd like to reserve a seat (or two). And on behalf of George and the guys, many thanks for the support.
