Stop and Smell the Roses, and Help Save State Parks

Kitayama Brothers and Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks to host 2012 Greenhouse Open House as part of 3rd Annual Monterey Bay Greenhouse Growers Open House.

By Matthew Greenfield

Attention lovers of flowers, wine and our local state parks and beaches— and are once again taking this weekend’s Monterey Bay Greenhouse Growers Open House to the next level by donating proceeds to the nonprofit Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks.

The event takes place Saturday, June 16, from 10-4, and features greenhouse tours, wine and flower pairings, the Kitayama Cup floral design competition, an organic farmers market, a mobile ParkStore and activities for the whole family.

Community partners include Storrs Winery, Alfaro Family Vineyard and Winery and Cruz N Gourmet food trucks.

Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks was founded in 1976 to support the interpretive programs of coastal state parks in Santa Cruz County. Friends –a non-profit park partner– strives to ensure that the history, traditions and natural beauty of Santa Cruz County State Parks are enjoyed today and by future generations. Each year nearly 328,000 visitors–including thousands of school children– participate in over 4,300 free educational programs funded by Friends.

The festival is free and open to the public. For more information, visit:

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

We got one too sweetcakes (some caring person actually tucked it into my door handle so it wouldn'tRead More blow away) even though I have a "No on T" sign in my yard. The "Yes on T" is all lies anyway so it went right into my recycle bin. Perhaps it was just coincidence but they came while we were at the City Council meeting last night. Go figure.
