Best Breakfast in Town: The Wooden Nickel

I found out this morning, that I have been missing the best breakfast in town by not going to the Wooden Nickel.

I know, I know I usually write about politics. And with that, I have been completely missing in action on the Patch. Not only is political season in full swing but I also recently got engaged. My life is now completely filled with social media for politicians or pinning new ideas for my wedding Pinterest.

That being said, I still have time to come visit my parents and eat some good food. I grew up with a father that is hands down on of the best cooks ever. I have travelled the world and every where I go I almost always say "oh I think Dad could make that better."

I was a bit worried, I never had eaten breakfast there before. In my high school years I would hit up the with my best friends Susie and Emily on a Saturday morning. But never once had I set foot in the Wooden Nickel.

I found out this morning, that I have been missing the best breakfast in town by not going to this corner joint. When I walked in I automatically fell in love. The old hole in the wall has the best atmosphere—with wooden walls, big moose and bison heads hanging and nice cozy booths.

I ordered the eggs benedict and my dad his usual, two eggs over easy with bacon. I would consider myself an eggs benedict connoisseur; if I go out to breakfast it is usually what I order.

The Wooden Nickel's eggs bendidict were cooked to perfection, a nice thick slab of ham sat underneath the eggs and the hollandaise sauce was one of the best I have tasted.

The service was supreme. The waitresses, wearing 49ers jerseys for the playoff game, always made sure our coffee cups were full with a smile on their face.

Hands down it was the best breakfast I have ever eaten in Watsonville.
