Scammers calling the 831 area code

If you get a phone call saying that your computer has been sending alerts to a company because of errors or people trying to get in to your computer, do NOT believe it. It is unlikely that your computer is asking for help without your permission.

One scam asks you to type eventvw  to see the errors. Yes, there are always errors in the eventvw, It records events like when you close your browser before the page has fully loaded.  It is nothing to worry about. The people calling want to to adjust your computer to allow them to look on your computer and grab any finance information or account passwords.

Another trick is to say your computer is telling them someone is trying to get into your computer. They want you to install software that allows them to get in your computer.

Next week they will think of some other excuse.

The REAL do not call registery is at: https://www.donotcall.gov/
Scammers are also calling to ask people to join (by giving them all sorts of informaton.) The feds will never call and ask you to join.

Be careful.
