Blog: We Need to Stand Up and Fight

fight the gangs fight for your city fight against the wasting of money by the city officials. fight for a piece of mind and fight for our freedom.

Over the past month and a half I have been trying to figure out why there are so many "gang issues" in the city of Watsonville. I have gone to the police and they have been great in assisting us in battling these low life's on our street. But times they show up too late. They cant always make it to one of our calls. The city has also cut budget to certain programs IE. the "neighbor hood watch" program, where they only come out and tell you how to do things safely. I'm sorry but doing things safely isn't a problem, its doing them effectively and with enough honor and courage to do what is right when it is needed.

The "city council" members along with the Mayor give away money to things that are NOT important to keep this city running. Schools are suffering, police officers are suffering, fireman are suffering, city employees suffering because of the "budget" cuts. By the way the budget is $162 million.  I'm sorry but you don't bite the hand that feeds you but ill bite the hell out of the hand that isn't doing a damn thing to protect us as a neighbor hood, a city and a community.

I spend 20 hours a day not only doing my job but also walking my block to kick the scum off of it. Icase Dumpster divers away, weed smokers, gang bangers, and the wannabe bangers off my block. I not only have been stolen from myself but 5 others have been hit this year along with 17 of them in the last 5 years. So is it time for someone to stand fast, hold on to what is right and gather the amazing citizens of this comm-UNITY to rise up and take back what is rightfully ours? We don't need a budget to stand tall. We don't need a budget to rise up and defend our country. Soldiers go out with out wavering to die for us to protect our freedom. We allow them to go and die for us there but when they get home and they are back in our arms they get killed by a drive by or get murdered for their wallet, hit by a drunk driver.  We as a comm-UNITY need to rise up.

You need not worry about tomorrow when you live in so much fear today! I know the for me,"In GOD we trust" still means something. I know that i will always say "GOD" in the pledge of allegiance. And the most important thing I know is that we are all AMERICANS, white, black, brown, yellow, purple, what ever color, race, creed, sexuality. We stand as one, we fight as one, and until i give my last breath I will fight to not be scared, i will fight to be free, and damn it i will fight for my family my friends and my neighbors through out the city.

It is time to fight for each other as AMERICANS forget the color, forget the race, forget the gender, forget the sexual preference. We stand NOW and we stand TOGETHER.

If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well. Martin Luther King Jr.
I'm calling all men and women to fight for OUR city to be true Americans and fight to get these gangs out!

I agree with you 100%.

close the border we at least will start knowing who is here.
Cynthia September 19, 2012 at 12:51 pm
Close the Border....What??? 1st, criminals are not necessarily straight from Mexico. 2nd Watsonville doesn't border the Border. 3rd, Take a really good look at who the criminals are, and most likely Americans as well. So...
Daniel Williams September 19, 2012 at 01:16 pm
First of all look globally to see and understand the problems we have locally. We have a culturally rich Mexican American community where a large percentage of crimes are done by Mexican Americans. Is it because of their race/ethnicity? No!!! It is not. Simply put there are people of every ethnicity and race in every city and town across America, throughout the world that make very poor and selfish choices... Sad but true. I don't blame government or other people, in fact I see the seeds of deviance start in the family structure. While traveling in this country and abroad i have noticed it all starts for the most part within the human family. Dads need to man up and Moms stay strong and vigilant to micromanage their children to adulthood. Giving time to their families and making them the priority. Just sayin...

Paul, I only live a couple of blocks from you and I am right there with you on this issue, brother. As a military man, you fought terrorism overseas, and I too say that I'll be damned if I am going to be intimidated by by these small-time terrorist punks in our own town! And you're right about the city council. In my opinion, there is a group of them (the "majority) who want to keep Watsonville dumbed down and keep those of us who have any intelligence scared for our safety and our property. That way, people in town are either too dumb or too concerned with day to day survival to pay attention to what is going on. These city clowncil members also figure people will keep voting for them if they keep everyone dumbed down with their usual snow job. In fact, it seems they have groomed a couple of new clowncil candidates who will be running uncontested in November, so no doubt the fun will continue. Paul, people like you and I, as well as Beverly and Rebecca, need to start showing up at city council meetings, hold their feet to the fire and shove our opinions down their throats like they do to us. So when do you folks (and any other people in town with any brains or courage) want to meet up at a city council meeting?
Paul Gutierrez September 19, 2012 at 01:35 pm
It's not even about race!!!! It's about assholes. And if u re read the blog I said "Americans". Race isn't the issue here in California, it's an asshole problem now not a race problem. Every race has some screwed up people in it. I'm talking to the Americans! The one who are willing to fight for freedom. And btw I'm half Mexican and I hate the fact some of you say close the border. It's not a border issue. It is an asshole problem. Yes I do not like that a lot of Mexicans come over here but I can't stop that. What I can stop is them being assholes. Again I repeat it's not about race because whites screw up Mexicans screw up black people screw up Chinese people screw up. We all have screwed up. But now is the time to fix it. To stand together as "Americans". If you rather hide behind your computer screen that's your right. I won't hide I won't back down and I won't take any racism laying down. This Saturday I'm having a neighbor hood watch meeting at 630pm at 643 palm ave. you want to learn what it is to be a true American then show up.

Daniel, I agree with you that it needs to start with the family. Not to sound like a broken record, but I have stated many times that the most important job in the world (parenting) requires the fewest qualifications. So I think intervention does need to start with the family. I don't necessarily agree with you about government, though. For years, our city council has been dominated by a group of individuals whose sole purpose has appeared to be to ram their own personal agenda down all of our throats rather than to listen to or truly represent ALL of the people in Watsonville. I believe many of their actions, their allottment of some monies and their overall ideology has served to enable a lot of the criminal element in Watsonville. Just my humble opinion for whatever it's worth.
David H. Perez September 19, 2012 at 01:42 pm
Paul, I agree with you, it is NOT about race. And I am half Mexican myself. But we need to rid our city leadership of racially-divisive politics as well.
Cynthia September 19, 2012 at 02:43 pm
I agree with you...
Paul Gutierrez September 19, 2012 at 02:57 pm
we need a new mayor who isnt afriad to make the hard decisions and go after these assholes
David H. Perez September 19, 2012 at 03:23 pm
You're right Paul. We need a REAL mayor who is elected by the residents of Watsonville, and not some half-brained sock puppet who is hand-picked and controlled by the "special interests."
Paul Gutierrez September 19, 2012 at 04:13 pm
well, we need to find out to get rid of him by public vote , like vetoing a bill
randy September 19, 2012 at 04:58 pm
How many politicians have used the Carr Street Address.

Excellent posts David and Paul. Some of this goes back when the Uniion (Oscar Rios ) came in and then problems started. THEN we have the advent of the Brown Berets organized by Luis Alejo who are against our military, do not salute the flag, believe they will defend theirself even against the police,, on and on and on. This was the "dumbing" of Watsonville.
Now the DUMBING is because the citizens that don't agree won't stand up or are afraid to stand up. Next sitting council will be of one accord except for one person. Randy... giving my opiniion
Paul Gutierrez September 19, 2012 at 05:34 pm
as david put it. a "half-brained sock puppet who is hand-picked and controlled by the "special interests."", sits in office now who shouldnt be there. our money is being squandered by this store bought "Mexican-American"

When is the next one? Altho my schedule is weird, I'd like to attend if at all possible.
Thinkin Person October 9, 2012 at 04:06 am
Paul, have you considered getting some rest? You say you work 20 hours a day, well, that doesn't leave you much time to sleep. Could that be the cause of your overly dramatic way of speaking? You have been in town two months and stirred up a lot of tension. I wonder if you are the healthiest person to be talking in such a incendiary way and I don't think you are advancing any cause for Unity with your approach. Why don't you get some sleep and come back to it another day. You are from out of town but you seem to have assigned yourself some special role as if you are the only person affected or that your solution is the best. If you really want to be part of the community, try not running into town like a bull without any sleep. take a break man. This is NOT positive and does nothing to promote Unity.
Sleep on it. Seriously.

I'd like to have more info about this. I'm thinking of "bundling" my telephone land line,Read More internet, and HGTV with Charter, BUT if they practice censorhsip, I might reconsider. Any more info would be appreciated...what websites are being blocked?
Butch Cole June 16, 2013 at 01:32 am
I'd like more information also..I have Charter now and can't remember getting notification that theyRead More are blocking sites.
Earl Pickles June 16, 2013 at 10:40 pm
Doubtful that notification would be given. Sites that are most troublesome for Charter are thoseRead More available for downloading copyrighted material. This is not to say that Charter is a bad ISP for it is a relative fast, moderately priced, reliable service in this area. I would suggest however that you do not lease the required equipment from them but purchase your own. If you are interested in finding out more about Charter and other ISPs blocking sites, information is available on the Internet.

From emergency dispatchers: the white four-door sedan had flames coming from the engine compartment.Read More It was on the off-ramp from southbound Highway 1 near Rampart. The car was fully engulfed and the flames spread into the surrounding vegetation a bit, but firefighters only needed a couple of minutes to knock down the fire.
