Aptos Bank Robbed by Three Masked Suspects

The heist in the third in the county this month.

Update 11:52 a.m.: Sheriff's Deputy April Skalland has told Patch that the bank was robbed by three suspects in hoodies and masks. It's unknown if the suspect from last week's robberies was involved in Wednesday's incident. 

Original Report: A Chase Bank in Aptos was robbed Wednesday morning, bringing the total number of bank hold-ups in the county this month to three.

No arrests have been made in any of the robberies.

Wednesday's heist happened at 9:48 a.m. at Chase, 7851 Soquel Dr. The bank is across from the Rancho Del Mar shopping center, near State Park Drive. The octagon-shaped building is on a slope below the road bed and its interior is not visible from the street.

Sheriff's deputies were still at the scene more than an hour after the robbery as crime scene investigators poured over evidence.

Little information has been released about the crime, but deputy April Skalland said more details would come out Tuesday afternoon.

The other robberies happened in Capitola and Santa Cruz last week and investigators suspect the two heists were carried out by the same robber, possibly 25-year-old Alex Wells.
