Armed Female Robber Snags Cash From Hair Salon

A woman brandished a handgun inside a Main Street hair salon Wednesday afternoon, demanded cash and got away with an undisclosed amount of money, Watsonville police reported.

The armed holdup happened at Modern Creations Salon, on the 500 block of Main Street, just before 4 p.m., police said. 

An employee, fearing for her life, opened the cash register and gave the robber money, police said.


The robber was described as a Latina in her 20's wearing a grey sweater with long dark-colored hair. She fled the store through the back parking lot and headed east toward Brennan Street, police said. 

Officers searched the area unsuccessfully. Detectives ask that anyone who witnessed the robbery or otherwise has information about the case contact the Investigations Bureau at 768-3350 or the Tip Line at 768-3544.
