Back-to-Back Shootings Reported in Pajaro

Two men, possibly brothers, were arrested.

Two shootings occurred within minutes of one another in Pajaro late Friday afternoon but no one was hurt, the Monterey County Sheriff's Office reported.

Two men, possibly brothers, were arrested for the gun violence, authorities said.

The first shooting was reported around 5:40 p.m. at a housing project on Salinas Road. A man there gave deputies a brief description of the shooters, the Sheriff's Office reported.

While deputies were at the housing project, a second shooting was reported near Hall Road and Las Lomas Drive. There, the gunman fired on a silver Toyota Tacoma, striking it three times, deputies reported.

Through witness accounts and assistance from the Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force, deputies arrested Oscar Franco, 25, and Juan Franco, 23. Both men were described as unemployed and homeless by the Sheriff's Office.

Oscar reportedly was the gunman. Deputies said he was armed with a .40-caliber Cal Sig Sauer handgun. They were driving a blue Dodge Caravan during the alleged attacks, according to the Sheriff's Office.
