Update: Crash Cleared, San Juan Road Reopens

The collision happened around 8:25 a.m. Wednesday.

Update, 3 p.m.: San Juan Road reopened around 1:45 p.m. followign a morning collision involving a big rig and several cars, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The big rig and its trailer ran off the road east of Pajaro and got stuck in a ditch, according to the CHP. The driver was injured and taken to Watsonville Community Hospital.

A big rig and multiple cars collided on San Juan Road east of Pajaro during the morning commute Wednesday, halting westbound traffic on the rural, two-lane road,  the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash happened around 8:25 a.m. and has been reported to involve the semi-truck and anywhere from two to five other vehicles, according to the CHP.

It's near 1249 San Juan Rd., not far from Driscoll's. The big rig and its trailer ended up in a ditch, with the front axle of the truck broken. Also, the driver appeared to suffer minor injuries, according to the CHP.

San Juan Road cuts through strawberry and lettuce fields in North Monterey County. It's hemmed in by power lines and ditches.
