Boy, 13, Arrested After Police Chase Stolen Car
The boy had run away from a home he'd been placed in by the court.
A 13-year-old was arrested after a police chase involving a stolen car ended in a crash on a dead-end street late Tuesday, Watsonville police reported.
The boy, whose name was not released, was caught hiding in an apartment complex and arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and burglary tools, and violating his probation, police said.
The incident started around 11:56 p.m. when a man reported his white 1992 Toyota Camry was stolen from the 200 block of Riverside Drive.

Officer Chris Greene spotted the Toyota Camry driving north on Freedom Boulevard near Davis Avenue. Greene tried to stop the car, but the driver instead sped away west on Davis Avenue and crashed just after the dead end, police said.
There were two people in the car; they fled. Officers set up a perimeter and found the 13-year-old hiding nearby. He also had burglary tools with him and had run away from a court-ordered placement in a home, police reported.

The second person in the car was not located. Detectives ask that anyone with information about the car theft call the Investigations Bureau at 768-3350 or the Crime Tipline at 768-3544.
