From the looks of the car involved in this accident it was really moving when it hit a solid object.

In the photo in the Santa Cruz paper the front tires look bald.

It is medically known that the center of the human brain which controls judgement does not reach full maturity until between the ages of 25 and 30. I wonder if we are issuing driver licenses to people at too young of an age.
Gama2 December 10, 2012 at 07:18 pm
I must agree. Our founding fathers set the voting age at 21 for a good reason back in 1776 and modern neuroscience backs this up.
watsonvillen December 10, 2012 at 07:31 pm
Young c check yourself foo the driver was a homie him and juanito were good friends how the fuck would you feel if your homie passed away in front of you and all the people calling this murder can suck my fuckin dick! These guys are homies they would never do anything to harm one another how do u guys know there wasnt a car that got in the way and made them swerve and hit the curb? Quit talking shit if u dont know was up the driver probably feels all bad but this was an accident r.i.p juanito you will be missed homie
Gama2 December 10, 2012 at 07:46 pm
First of all he should feel like Sh*t for killing that poor child. Is he a murder? Murder is defined as the unlawful taking of a human life. If your friend was doing something wrong it may be considered murder. If the driver was forced to swerve and then crash he was driving way too fast in violation of the prima-facia speed law, again the drivers fault. As far as your order to stop talking about this I can not see how you could enforce such a demand. Again all accidents are caused by human error, in this case it seems like the driver is totally at fault as there are no reports of other cars involved and according to the earlier post from a friend of the driver that stated that they were not racing. On the other hand there is a lot a racing in that area and young people have been known to drink or do drugs while driving which goes back to the poor judgement factor that a previous poster mentioned. In conclusion your bud killer your friend. He will have to pay one way or another.
Larry the Watsonville Guy December 10, 2012 at 07:49 pm
Yo blood u home boy was cruzes 2 fast and mangled his car up something bad. Most would call it killing, th law might call it murder. Either way some1 going down.
The Truth December 10, 2012 at 09:22 pm
Gama 2 I agree with alot of stuff that has been mentioned in this thread. My question is how can you say " all accidents are caused by human error" ??? to me that is a naive response and just plain obnoxious are you serious????what about black ice, slippery roads, wildlife jumping out on roadways, heavy fog THINK ABOUT IT no matter how precautious When we are on the road accidents will happen even to the most experienced driver. To bad you werent behind that wheel to have done something diffrent@@@@gama2
The Grimm Keeper December 10, 2012 at 09:49 pm
No, not the truth. All accidents are due to human error. Black ice - you are driving too fast for the road, slippery roads the same, slow down stupid, wildlife then your again driving to fast at sunrise/set on a country road and could have avoid the problem. Heavy fog, do i need to say it again, slow down. If you can not adjust to the situation then poll off the road. In the case of the driver in question none of the above or any other reason has been sighted. If the young person could not handle the road he should have had the presence of mind to pull over and park his car. If I were behind the wheel I would not let anyone ride in my auto without seat belts and I would not be driving at a high rate of speed in a developed area where the speed limit is 40mph.
Larry the Watsonville Guy December 10, 2012 at 09:52 pm
If you can't handle the road park your car. Never let anyone ride in your car without seatbelts. Don't drive stupid. Drive the speed limit. Don't do drugs or booze while driving. Don't use a phone or text while driving. If these simple things were followed this kid would be alive today.
Watzon McWats December 10, 2012 at 10:06 pm
All this judgement and we don't even know the full story yet.
Folks see a couple photos on the internet and all of the sudden everyone is a professional crash scene investigator. Very sad story non the less.

It's terrible what happened. Watsonville has lost too many young people to car crashes this year. My heart goes out to this young man's family as well as the others who lost a child in crashes in the spring.
As we wait for more information about the circumstances of the collision, just a little information about the laws surrounding this type of crash. Typically, drivers aren't charged with murder when a passenger in their car (or someone in another vehicle they hit) is killed. They instead face vehicular manslaughter, a charge that can be either a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the circumstances. The charges usually are more serious when there are other factors, such as the driver is drunk or the victim was a child who should have been buckled in, etc. Lastly, when officers investigate a fatal traffic collision, the analysis can takes weeks or longer. It may be some time before WPD decides if they will arrest the driver, or they may give the complete investigation to the District Attorney's Office to make a decision. Of course, none of that helps the community's grief right now. So hug your loved ones, wear a seat belt and try to be kind to those who are grieving the loss of this young man.

Accurate and well-stated, Jennifer.
Razors edge of night December 11, 2012 at 12:29 am
Manslaughter is defined in the California Penal Code as murder in the third degree so this may very well be murder just as earlier post noted.
Razors edge of night December 11, 2012 at 12:31 am
So if some one 'accedently' shot your kid sister to death it would be OK with you?
Razors edge of night December 11, 2012 at 12:32 am
It was not God that caused his death.
Razors edge of night December 11, 2012 at 12:37 am
Green Valley has been a race track for 50 years. I remember when a car load of kids blew a tire out there in their Corvette and they ran into a stand of trees. Very bad. That was in the 1960's. In the 80's in at least two separate wreaks racers died near Krji drive when there cars overturned at over 100 mph. Very sad.
The Eye from the Sky December 11, 2012 at 08:32 pm
Check this out https://www.facebook.com/juan.jeronimo.73?fref=ts this is the face book page of the young guy who died. Lots of talk of pot and gang banging, a interesting read.

Fortunately, I am culturally competent so I understand how sheep or bigots in this argumentative society can post negative comments on a 17 year old death blog. Unfortunately, your post reflect on you guys and say more about you than that Face Book page said about Juan. Ironic don't you think:->

My Child
My child, is it time to part so soon your strength was much to strong to remain still. Time and circumstance is not a crime your purity and heart came second to the grace you blessed everyone with in your presences. My child, your strength is now mine and may it guide my steps through life.

All of you need to shut the fuck up. Unless you were present at the scene and know what really happened keep your mouth SHUT.
Terrance Man December 12, 2012 at 04:17 pm
According to the Police there was a race between the crashing car and another unnamed, so far. The driver was arrested for manslaughter, gang involment, majaruna, a loaded gun, racing and other charges. So there is a clear picture of what was going on that night. Criminal pot smoking gun carrying thugs racing on the street. Live as stupid criminals, die as stupid criminals. The people of this area are tired you this. Expect no love.
Terrance Man December 12, 2012 at 04:19 pm
OBTW- if I don't keep my mouth shut, just what are you going to do, shoot the Internet? LOL.
Terrance Man December 12, 2012 at 04:27 pm
This was no accident. According to published reports the Police say that the car was involved in a race on Green Valley Road and for unknown reasons made a hard left on a straight stretch, crossed several lanes, a curb, down a hill and into the trees. A gun and pot were found in the car. The driver was charged with manslaughter, gang involment, the gun and pot. So to make it simple for you they were racing while stoned, had a gun, gang bangen and the kid that died was not wearing a seat belt. All of these things are stupid at best. They are also criminal acts. Not an accident, this was a murder resulting from criminal disregard of comman sence and the law. People that live this way take note: you will find no love from the people of this town.
Terrance Man December 12, 2012 at 04:28 pm
This was not an accident, it was manslaughter.
Adam D. December 12, 2012 at 04:57 pm
David if we are issuing them too early, we aren't taking them away early enough. I think once a person hits 55 they should need to take a driving test every year on their birthday to be competent to be on the road. I agree we are issuing licenses too young but until insurance companies stop lobbying the state it wont change. Putting an age restriction on drivers would solve a lot more deaths than seat belts.
Paul G.. December 13, 2012 at 01:44 am
These dumb asses were racing and smoke'n dope while not wearing safety belts, so not really an accident. At least one will be charged with manslaughter, maybe more. They are going to pay.
Paul G.. December 13, 2012 at 01:45 am
There are no angles where this guy has gone.
Paul G.. December 13, 2012 at 01:46 am
Manslaughter, a type of murder, the second biggest sin. Gona burn.

I'd like to have more info about this. I'm thinking of "bundling" my telephone land line,Read More internet, and HGTV with Charter, BUT if they practice censorhsip, I might reconsider. Any more info would be appreciated...what websites are being blocked?
Butch Cole June 16, 2013 at 01:32 am
I'd like more information also..I have Charter now and can't remember getting notification that theyRead More are blocking sites.
Earl Pickles June 16, 2013 at 10:40 pm
Doubtful that notification would be given. Sites that are most troublesome for Charter are thoseRead More available for downloading copyrighted material. This is not to say that Charter is a bad ISP for it is a relative fast, moderately priced, reliable service in this area. I would suggest however that you do not lease the required equipment from them but purchase your own. If you are interested in finding out more about Charter and other ISPs blocking sites, information is available on the Internet.

From emergency dispatchers: the white four-door sedan had flames coming from the engine compartment.Read More It was on the off-ramp from southbound Highway 1 near Rampart. The car was fully engulfed and the flames spread into the surrounding vegetation a bit, but firefighters only needed a couple of minutes to knock down the fire.
