Caltrans Worker Finds Man Beaten

The attack and robbery happened south of Watsonville early Friday.

A 57-year-old man was found beaten on the side of the road just south of Watsonville early Friday morning, according to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office.

A Caltrans worker found the man along southbound Trafton Road, west of state Highway 1, at about 1:10 a.m.

The semi-conscious victim told the sheriff's office that a male suspect and a female suspect beat him with a tire iron, swiped his wallet containing hundreds of dollars in cash and stole his primer gray 1984 Toyota Corolla with California license plate No. 1551HDP.

The victim was transported to Watsonville Community Hospital before being flown to San Jose Regional Trauma Center.
