Cops Find Cocaine in Parolee's Hide-A-Key

Jesus Perez Sanchez was pulled over for a broken headlight and ended up in jail for drug possession.

Watsonville police stumbled upon a drug possession arrest late Tuesday night.

At 10:59 p.m., Jesus Peres Sanchez was pulled over at Westridge Drive and Harkins Slough Road, for driving with a broken headlight.

Sanchez, a 28-year-old Watsonville resident, was found to be on parole for assault with a deadly weapon, so the officer did a full search on his vehicle, Sgt. Eric Taylor said.

"During the search, they found a black Hide-A-Key attached to the stearing column," Taylor said. "Inside the Hide-A-Key they found two plastic bindles of cocaine."

Police determined the total amount to be 3.8 grams of cocaine.

Sanchez was arrested for possession of a narcotic controlled substance and placed on a parole hold.
