Teen Arrested with Loaded Gun

A teenager already on court probation was caught with a loaded handgun in his pants pocket early Saturday morning, Watsonville Police reported.

Clintdell Taylor, 19, happened on two police officers around 4:18 a.m. The officers were on foot patrol at 30 W. Beach St. and speaking with another man when Taylor approached from Rodriguez Street. When he saw the cops, he tried to walk away but the officers recognized him and pursued him, police reported.

Because he's on probation, police could search him without other cause. That's when they found the handgun in his front pants pocket, police said.

The gun had been stolen from Antioch, in Contra Costa County, police said.

Taylor was arrested on suspicion of being a felon with a firearm, possessing a loaded/concealed gun, possessing a stolen gun and violating his probation. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.

This was the second loaded firearm seized by a Watsonville police officer on patrol this week.
