Deputies Raid Huge Marijuana Garden

Hundreds of plants were growing in a rented space on Walker Street.

Sheriff's deputies busted a marijuana grow in Watsonville on Wednesday, netting about 750 mature pot plants and about $40,000 in cash, sheriff's deputy April Skalland told Patch Thursday morning.

Details of the investigation are still emerging. The raid happened at a rental on Walker Street, an industrial area of town.

The bust is the latest in a string of raids on large marijuana growing operations in the Pajaro Valley. Two sophisticated indoor gardens in Watsonville have been taken down by deputies in recent months; Watsonville police stumbled onto a grow house earlier this month and deputies in Monterey County made an arrest in a grow operation just across the Pajaro River from Watsonville.
