Jesus Oscar Almeida, 19, was already wanted for domestic violence when he allegedly attacked and stabbed his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend on Wednesday evening, according to Watsonville police Sgt. Saul Gonzalez.

The violence happened in an apartment complex on Vista Montana. Officers flooded the area and did a grid search that required closing down several street, Gonzalez said. People living nearby said they saw several police cars, and officers surrounded a Palm Avenue house Wednesday night.

Gonzalez said the cops didn't find Almeida. He also didn't know what the "loud bang" some people reported hearing around 10:30 p.m. was.

Almeida, a Watsonville resident, is 5 foot-7 and 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police said he went to his ex's apartment on July 16, waited for her to arrive, then attacked her in the stairwell and forced her to his car in the parking lot. Almeida allegedly punched her in the face and forced her into the car. She continued to fight him off until someone came to help her. Then Almeida fled as police arrived.

Police also said Almeida is a gang member who should be considered armed and dangerous.

The ex's new boyfriend, who was stabbed Wednesday, did not suffer life-threatening injuries, Gonzalez said. Police plan to add assault charges to Almeida's warrant.
