Gang Trio Arrested with Loaded Gun

Three men were taken into custody on Wednesday night after a traffic stop yielded a concealed weapon.

On Jan. 30 at approximately 9 p.m., a Watsonville Police Officer initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. As the car was stopping, one of the occupants was seen ducking down out of view. That occupant was later identified as Carlos Robles, 18, of Watsonville.

The officer approached the car and contacted the three occupants. All three males are members or associates of a local criminal street gang. A subsequent search of the car located a loaded, concealed handgun.

All three men were arrested for participation in a criminal street gang and Robles was arrested for possession of a loaded, concealed handgun. The trio was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.

The other two arrestees were Jason Cortez, 18, and Isaias Barron, 20, both of Watsonville.
