Gang Trio Arrested with Loaded Gun

Three men were taken into custody on Wednesday night after a traffic stop yielded a concealed weapon.

Contributed by the Watsonville Police Department:

On Jan. 30 at approximately 9 p.m., a Watsonville Police Officer initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. As the car was stopping, one of the occupants was seen ducking down out of view. That occupant was later identified as Carlos Robles, 18, of Watsonville.

The officer approached the car and contacted the three occupants. All three males are members or associates of a local criminal street gang. A subsequent search of the car located a loaded, concealed handgun.

All three men were arrested for participation in a criminal street gang and Robles was arrested for possession of a loaded, concealed handgun. The trio was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.

The other two arrestees were Jason Cortez, 18, and Isaias Barron, 20, both of Watsonville.

One down. Now if we can just find a way to keep them from getting out. Need laws with a bite. Carry a gun do lots of time. Illegally talking about of course.

I think it would help the community a lot if photos were posted along with gang arrests. Not only would everyone know who the gang members in the community are, their parents, family and friends might be more apt to put some pressure on them to change their ways. Just saying...

I would guess that you have a voice good point middle ground but I don't know if there can be peer pressure if going to jail does not work.
