Grass Fire Spreads into Tree

The blaze caught a lot of people's attention, but didn't damage any buildings.

A grass fire sparked near Highway 1 and Main Street at dusk Sunday, prompting more than 40 people to call 911 about the emergency, authorities reported.

Watsonville Patch reader Dewey Garrett Jr. sent in this photo and the following report:

There was a fire Sunday night, on Main St., between Green Valley and Holm Rds. North bound Main St. was shut down. Looked like a grass fire that caught a 40' pine tree on fire also.

The blaze was reported about 5:50 p.m. No structures were involved and no injuries were reported. Fire crews were at the scene for nearly three hours.
