Guns Found at Teen's Home

The Gang Task Force arrested a 15-year-old on Thursday night.

A 15-year-old was arrested for having a sawed-off shotgun and a loaded revolver in his house, the county Gang Task Force reported.

Gang Task Force agents served a search warrant at the teen's house, on Meadow Terrace, around 10:35 p.m. Thursday.

The teen, whose name was not released, was on probation and prohibited from having drugs, gang clothing or paraphernalia, or weapons, according to Gang Task Force Cmdr. Mario Sulay.

Agents reportedly found the sawed off shotgun with shotgun ammunition, and a loaded old-military issue .45-caliber revolver. The teen's parents said they didn't know about the guns, according to Sulay.

He was arrested on suspicion of being a minor in possession of firearms, possession of a sawed off shotgun, minor in possession of ammunition, gang crime and violation of probation, Sulay reported.

The seizure of these two firearms marks the 26th and 27th guns seized by the Gang Task Force since the task force was launched in September 2011, according to Sulay. Eighteen of the 27 guns were seized from the South County and city of Watsonville and three of those cases involved juvenile offenders. Several of these guns were unregistered and had no owner information. Most that had owner information were found to have been reported stolen.

Firearm cases are high priority investigations for the GTF, Sulay said. Anyone wishing to report gang related information can call the Gang Task Force tip line (831) 454-7010.
