Hit-and-Run Drive On the Lam

The CHP is looking for a man who allegedly rear-ended a woman's pickup at high speeds Monday.

Authorities are looking for a Watsonville man who fled after allegedly rear-ending a pickup on San Andreas Road on Monday afternoon, authorities reported.

The high-speed crash was so severe, early reports heard via emergency radio traffic called it a head-on collision.

It happened just after 2 p.m. near 295 San Andreas Rd., west of Watsonville, when a black 1995 Toyota Camry heading south rear-ended a 1997 Toyota Tacoma at high speeds, according to CHP officer Sarah Jackson.

The pickup landed on its roof in a field adjacent to the road. The front end of the Camry was crushed.

The 59-year-old Watsonville woman driving the pickup was injured and taken to Watsonville Community Hospital, the CHP reported. Witnesses at the scene said three men in their late teens or early 20s fled west toward 320 San Andreas Rd. after the crash, according to emergency radio traffic.

CHP officers and State Parks rangers searched for the men and apprehended the two suspected passengers: Miguel Angel Aguillar-Murillo, 20, of Watsonville was detained by a State Parks ranger on Sunset Beach and Mario Padilla-Oseguera, 21, of Pajaro was detained by a CHP officer on Shell Road at Beach Road.

But the suspected driver, Erain Gonzalez-Sanchez, 23, got away. The CHP reported he lives on 9th Street in Watsonville. He is wanted on suspicion of felony hit and run, the CHP reported.

The CHP asks anyone with information about Gonzalez-Sanchez's whereabouts contact officers Grant Boles, Jarvis Opp or Troy Vincent of the Santa Cruz CHP at 662-0511.
