Hwy. 129 Crash Victims ID'd

An elderly Aromas couple died Wednesday when their car was broadsided by a big rig.

was Shirley Pierce, 73, and JD Head, 84, the Coroner's Office reported Friday morning.

Head was behind the wheel of a Dodge Neon eastbound on the highway when he tried to turn left onto Lakeview Drive, but crossed in front of a westbound big rig. The Neon was broadsided.

Pierce, Head and two smal dogs in the car died on impact, authorities reported. Sheriff's Office Sgt. Steve Carney said Head and Pierce were married, though their last names were different.

The driver of the big rig, which was pulling an unloaded trailer, was not hurt.
