Man Fatally Shot in Watsonville

Four men attacked him on Rodriguez Street, police say.

A man was gunned down on a Watsonville street late Saturday, the city's fourth homicide this year.

Police have released little information about the killing.

The man was walking on Rodriguez Street between Ford and Sixth streets around 11:40 p.m. Saturday when four men confronted him and one opened fire, police reported.

Neighbors called 911 to report the shooting at 667 Rodriguez St. The man was badly hurt, so medics drove him in an ambulance to Valley Medical Center in San Jose. It was too foggy for a medical helicopter come in.

The man died at the trauma center. His name has not been released.

No arrests have been made. Police are investigating.

The slaying is the sixth in Santa Cruz County this year; five of six have been in South County.
