A man died when the converted barn he was living in caught fire early Friday morning in rural Watsonville, local media reported.
The fire happened at a property at 195 Pioneer Rd. The area, north of Watsonville near Corralitos, is surrounded by agriculture fields.
The fire was reported around 2:30 a.m., Register Pajaronian reported. Hours later, excavator tearing apart the charred barn discovered the man's remains, according to the newspaper.
