Man on Parole Arrested for Strong-Arm Robbery

A man on parole for attempted murder was arrested Monday night after he allegedly robbed a woman, but police continue to search for a second suspect in the robbery, a police sergeant said.

Adam Lee Delgado, 27, of Salinas, and another male suspect approached a 47-year-old woman walking home from work in the 100 block of West Beach Street around 10:45 p.m. and demanded for her purse, Sgt. Mike McKinley said.

Delgado took the woman's purse from her shoulder and fled on foot, he said. The woman did not resist the men because she feared for her safety, McKinley said.

Nearby officers who were conducting an Alcohol Beverage Control enforcement operation spotted Delgado running and detained him, according to McKinley.

The victim identified Delgado as one of the robbers and he was arrested on suspicion of strong armed robbery and parole violation, police said. Police recovered the woman's purse that was hidden nearby, according to McKinley.

Officers were unable to locate the second suspect, McKinley said.
