Man Stabbed in the Face, One Arrested

Attacker chased the victim down the street in a car, stabbed him.

A 22-year-old Watsonville man was stabbed in the face early Saturday following a fight at a home off Pennsylvania Drive, police reported.

The attack happened just before 1 a.m. The victim apparently left the house, on Willowcreek Street, after the argument, but the alleged attacker, 21-year-old Sergio Suarez, chased after him in a car.

On Pennsylvania, Suarez got out of the car and pulled a knife, according to police. He allegedly stabbed the victim in the face, causing a laceration from his right eyebrow to the side of his head, police said.

Police found the victim at his home on Marin Street, and he was taken to Watsonville Community Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.

Officers went back to the house on Willowcreek, where they found Suarez and arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence. Police said he had been drinking.
