A man who tried to rape a 16-year-old girl at a Watsonville motel was at large Sunday, police said.
The attempted rape was reported about 2:30 a.m. Saturday at a Motel 6, 125 Silver Leaf Drive, according to officials.The man forced the girl into the laundry room and managed to pull down her shorts; her father found him holding her against the wall, police said.
The father fought off the attacker but injured his knee; he was treated by medics, police said.
The suspect is Latino and in his 30s, with a dark complexion and dark hair.
