Marijuana Grow, Ammo Discovered in Madison Street Home

Anonymous tips led police to raid the pot operation Saturday night.

A 25-year-old man already on court probation was arrested Saturday night when Watsonville police reportedly discovered a sophisticated marijuana growing operation in his Madison Street home, authorities said.

Police Officer Mish Radich along with other officers went to 411 Madison St. just after 7 p.m. to conduct a probation search on Erik Perales and his home, according to Watsonville police.

Radich had been investigating anonymous complaints of criminal activity happening at that house, police said.  Several people were in the home when police arrived.

Officers discovered "a concentrated cannabis manufacturing operation" in the garage, police reported. The setup included equipment and chemicals, as well as 2 pounds of marijuana, 18.2 grams of concentrated cannabis and live firearm ammunition, police said.

Perales is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing guns and ammunition, police said. He was arrested on drug charges and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on the listed charges.

Police also praised the tipsters who led investigators to the marijuana grow.
