Over $70K in Meth Found at Watsonville Home

Police also found a stolen gun and cash in a routine traffic stop.

Contributed by the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team:

On Jan. 16 at about 3:17 p.m., members from the Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was driven by Adan Nunez-Torres in the area of Green Valley Rd, and Celia Dr.

During the stop it was determined that Torres was driving without a license. A ubsequent search of his vehicle revealed approximately 2.5 ounces of crystal methamphetamine. Torres was arrested for transportation of a controlled substance.

After Torres’ arrest, the case was turned over to the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team (SCCACT) for further investigation. The SCCACT was able to secure a search warrant for the residence at 35 Alegre Dr., in Watsonville, as they believed this was a location that Torres was using to stash further narcotics.

At 5:15, the SCCACT assisted by agents from Homeland Security Investigations served the search warrant at the residence. Agents located approximately 1.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, cutting agents, packaging materials, a digital scale, a loaded .45 caliber handgun, and a reported stolen 9mm handgun. Agents also located and seized $3,000 in cash.

The street value of all of the methamphetamine that was located is estimated to be over $70,000.

Torres was taken to Santa Cruz County Jail and HSI also placed an immigration hold on Torres.

The SCCACT would ask anyone with information about this case to call the tipline at 831-454-2320.

We got one too sweetcakes (some caring person actually tucked it into my door handle so it wouldn'tRead More blow away) even though I have a "No on T" sign in my yard. The "Yes on T" is all lies anyway so it went right into my recycle bin. Perhaps it was just coincidence but they came while we were at the City Council meeting last night. Go figure.
