Pee Break Costs Man His Freedom

A suspected drug dealer was arrested after a cop saw him urinating in the Highway 1 median Sunday.

A Salinas man who stopped to take a leak in the center median of Highway 1 north of Watsonville near Mar Monte Avenue on Sunday afternoon went to jail on a long list of drug charges, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Richard Norman Sasse III, 27, caught the attention of a passing CHP officer because he was urinating in the middle of the highway at 1:55 p.m., CHP officer Sarah Jackson reported.

A CHP officer detained Sasse and searched his car. Officers reportedly found marijuana, hash, heroin and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Sasse, who initially gave the CHP a fake name, had been heading north on the highway before he was arrested.

He was booked into County Jail on suspicion of possessing heroin, marijuana, concentrated cannabis and paraphernalia; transporting and possessing marijuana for sale; false impersonation; driving on a suspended license; and, of course, urinating in public.
