UPDATE: Man Killed in PV Trailer Fire

The blaze was reported early Thursday.

Update, Friday, Feb. 3: The man who died when his travel trailer caught fire in rural Watsonville was 54-year-old Rudy Cobos, the Coroner's Office reported Friday.

Cobos was trapped inside a burning trailer at 83 Hughes Rd.

Fire crews were called to the scene around 12:05 a.m. Thursday and found the home engulfed in flames. Bystanders said someone might be inside and firefighters quickly battled back the flames, CalFire reported.

Cobos' body was found inside after the fire was extinguished, according to CalFire.

His cause of death will be determined at autopsy, which may occur Monday, according to the Coroner's Office.

Original story, Thursday, Feb. 2: One person died in a travel trailer fire in rural Watsonville early Thursday, according to CalFire.

The fire reported just after midnight at 83 Hughes Rd.; crews from the Valley Fire Protection District responded.

Witnesses told firefighters there may be someone trapped inside the trailer but the structure was completely engulfed in flames, according to CalFire.

They extinguished the fire quickly but could not get to the person inside. The body was found after the blaze was out. Details about the person who died were not released Thursday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, CalFire reported.

The trailer was located in an agriculture area, off Casserly Road near Highway 152.
