Police Arrest Two Teens For Stolen Property

Watsonville Police managed to arrest two teenagers in connection with a stolen car on Saturday night.

Two teenagers were arrested late Saturday evening in connection with a car that was reported stolen on Friday, according to Sgt. Michael McKinley.

An anonymous tip was called in to police about a suspicious vehicle parked in an apartment complex on the 100 block of Front Street.

The officers arrived a little before 11 p.m. and approached the covered white Honda Accord when two suspects jumped out of the car.

Watsonville police quickly apprehended a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy on the scene. A third member of the group, also a young man between the ages of 14 - 17, managed to escape from officers as he jumped some fences in nearby neighborhoods.

Watsonville Police officers set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and with the assistance of Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies, they conducted an extensive search for the youngster but were unable to locate him, also according Sgt. McKinley.

The two teenagers that were detained were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The 16-year-old boy was additionally charged with gang enhancements and a probation violation. The 14-year-old girl was additionally charged with providing a false name.
