Police Bloter: Cop Chases Down Thief

The following arrest information was provided by Watsonville Police Department and the Monterey County Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

A cop chased down a man who was in a stolen car Thursday evening, Watsonville police reported.

Officer Ed Delfin stopped a red Nissan Sentra near Meadow Terrace and Herman Avenue for a traffic violation around 5:24 p.m., but the three men inside jumped out and ran, police said. 

Delfin ran after them and caught one, 19-year-old Ernesto Murillo of Watsonville, police reported. He was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and resisting arrest.

Police said the car had been reported stolen in Monterey County earlier Thursday. The other two people in the car were not found.

1:46 a.m.—A 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were carjacked on the 100 block of Walker Street.The Mercury News reported the couple was car-jacked at gunpoint.

2:33 a.m.—A motorist driving with a flat tire on Nielson Street at Airport Boulevard was pulled over and arrested for DUI.

4:40 a.m.—A 29-year-old man was ticketed for having a methamphetamine pipe on Green Meadow Drive and South Green Valley Road.

7:37 p.m.—A man claimed to be a gang member, then demanded money from a 38-year-old man on Kilburn and Ford streets. He is suspected of robbery and gang participation.

Wednesday, March 14

10:49 a.m.—A Pajaro Valley High student was caught at school with a Fender guitar that had been reported stolen to the Sheriff's Office.

4:22 p.m.—A 36-year-old woman was arrested on a warrant on the 200 block of Prospect Street.

1:12 p.m.—Deputies were dispatched to a report of two females fighting in the road in Pajaro. One female was located and found to be under the influence of drugs. She was arrested and taken to the county jail.
