Police Blotter: Car Chase Ends in Crash

The following arrest information was provided by the Watsonville Police Department and the Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

A woman led sheriff's deputies on a chase through rural Watsonville late Wednesday night before crashing and being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, the Sheriff's Office reported.

Angela Anna Augilar caught a deputy's attention because she was parked at a school on Casserly Road just before midnight. The deputy spoke with Augilar, thought she might be drunk or on drugs, and called the California Highway Patrol for a DUI investigation, according to the Sheriff's Office.

But while the deputy was requesting assistance, Augilar allegedly got back in her car and sped off. The deputy chased her for about 2-3 miles before she crashed on Thompson Road near Riverside Drive, authorities said.
