Police Blotter: Car Burglary Suspects Arrested

Also, a CHP officer used his Tazer to stun a suspected drunken driver who fought getting arrested.

Two suspected car burglars were arrested early Monday after allegedly breaking into a vehicle on the 700 block of Hill Avenue, Watsonville police reported.

Cesar Francisco Garcia, 34, and Monique Erica Zamora, 28, were caught driving away from the break-in and pulled over, police reported.

Garcia was driving and Zamora was in the front passenger seat. They had items from the burglary in their vehicle, police said. The victim later identified the stolen property.

Garcia and Zamora were both arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property. Zamora was jailed; Garcia got a ticket.

A CHP officer used his Tazer to detain a suspected drunken driver who didn't want to go to jail Sunday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Jeffery Scott King, 59, of Potter Valley was pulled over near 7850 Soquel Dr. in Aptos around 9:30 p.m., according to the CHP. He resisted arrest and struggled against the officer so much a passerby jumped in to help.

That's when the officer used his Tazer to stun King and make the arrest, the CHP reported.

King was treated at Dominican Hospital, then was booked into County Jail.

Watsonville Police Log, Sunday, May 13

8:06 a.m.—Cars were burglarized on the 100 block of Lincoln Street, 1800 block of Coolidge Avenue, the 100 block of Main Street and the 400 block of Palm Avenue. All the crimes happened overnight; the burglars smashed windows to get into the vehicles.

12:58 p.m.—A house on the 100 block of Madison Street was burglarized overnight.

2:19 p.m.—Items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 400 block of East Lake Avenue.

6:15 p.m.—A 24-year-old man turned himself in for slashing another man's face with a beer bottle. The 39-year-old man was injured on the 100 block of Main Street.

Saturday, May 12

12:36 a.m.—Two men were arrested for probation violations on the 900 block of Main Street. Officers searched a room at the Valley Inn where several active gang members and teenagers were hanging out.

12:46 a.m.—Police conducted a financial investigation and asset forfeiture report on the 100 block of Clifford Avenue.

6:59 a.m.—A car burglar smashed a window on a vehicle and stole items. It happened on the 100 block of Elm Street overnight.

1:43 p.m.—A 47-year-old man was arrested for being drunk in public on the 2000 block of Freedom Boulevard.

3:47 p.m.—A vandal scratched a car on the 100 block of Carey Avenue.

6:25 p.m.—A 23-year-old man was arrested for giving cops a fake names and also a warrant. It happened on First and Rodriguez streets.

6:26 p.m.—A 31-year-old man was arrested for a warrant on the 200 block of Silver Leaf Drive.

 

Friday, May 11

9:25 p.m.—A truant teenager was caught with 4-inch steak knife on Lincoln and Stanford streets. He was arrested.

10:18 a.m.—A thief stole a Blackberry cell phone from a display at the AT&T store. The theft happened sometime in the past week.

1:42 p.m.—A man was arrested for trespassing at Burger King on the 1900 block of Freedom Boulevard.

1:52 p.m.—A 30-year-old woman was arrested for vandalism after breaking windows out of another woman's trailer on the 1900 block of Freedom Boulevard.

4:28 p.m.—Police took a report of ID theft on the 800 block of East Lake Avenue.

7:31 p.m.—A 43-year-old man was arrested for brandishing a knife at another man. It happened on the 100 block of Roache Road.

8:21 p.m.—A 19-year-old man was ticketed for a warrant during a traffic stop on Oliveira Loop and Chappell Road.

Thursday, May 10

1:19 a.m.—Police handled a drunk in public report on Knollwood and Peppertree lanes.

6:06 p.m.—A vandal scratched the fenders on a pickup parked on the 100 block of Ford Street.

7:08 p.m.—A man was arrested for violating the terms of his gang probation. It happened on the 1900 block of Main Street.

8 p.m.—A teenager was arrested with a knife and an alcoholic beverage on Herman Court and Meadow Terrace.

9:30 p.m.—A woman was cited for driving on a suspended license and speeding on Union Street and East Lake Avenue.

10:21 p.m.—A 19-year-old man was arrested for having a knife and drugs on Holm Road and Chappell Avenue. He was also booked for gang participation.

10:51 p.m.—A car burglar broke into a pickup and stole stereo equipment on the 100 block of Harkins Slough Road.
