Police Blotter: Assault and Vandalism

A man was assaulted by a group of unknown suspects behind Jaliscos restaurant Thursday evening.

Noel Alvarez, 35, was assaulted by a group of unknown suspects behind Jaliscos restaurant Thursday evening, the Watsonville Police Department reported.

The assault occurred around 7:25 p.m. while Alvarez was walking to work, said police Lt. David McCartney.

Alvarez was struck in the head from behind with a glass bottle, sustaining a cut to his head.

He went to the hospital where he was treated and released. There are no leads on the suspects at this time.

6:01 p.m.—Jose Alejandro Barriga, 24, was cited and released after admitting to breaking the windshield of his aunt's car.

2:45 a.m.—An unknown person threw a large rock at a bedroom window, shattering the window in the process, at the 500 block of California Street. The incident occurred while the occupants of the house were asleep, and there are no leads on the suspect.

2:45 p.m.—Someone damaged a woman's car by scratching it multiple times at 757 Green Valley Rd.
