Police Blotter: Checkpoints Catch a Woman with a Blood Alcohol Level of .26

The following arrest information was provided by the Watsonville Police Department and the county Gang Task Force. It does not indicate a conviction.

Be smart this holiday season: Don't drink and drive! Mandatory traffic stops are only one reason not to take the risk. The other reasons are much more tragic. Monday's DUI was issued to a woman with a .26 BAC—that's 7 drinks for an average 140 pound woman. Here is a chart to help you figure out what your estimated blood alcohol content will be after drinking.

Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Office Press Log, Sunday Dec. 25

12:20 p.m.— A man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapen on the 100 block of Manfre Road on Christmas day. The suspect slashed another man with a razor knife, inflicting a 4 inch laceration. The suspect was transported to county jail, while the victim was treated at Watsonville ER. The victim's jacket also had five seperate slash marks.

Watsonville Police Log, Monday, Dec. 26

12:21 a.m.— A 25-year-old man was arrested on the 100 block of Jefferson Street for being intoxicated in public.

1:30 p.m.—An unknown suspect smashed a vehicle and took two bags which contained numerous gift cards and cash. The incident happened at West Beach and Pajaro Dunes in Watsonville.

7:20 p.m.—An unknown suspect stole a bike from a residence on the 2000 block of Freedom Boulevard. 

9:25 p.m.—An unknown suspect or suspects shattered the driver's side window of a vehicle belonging to a 27 year old woman. The vehicle had been parked at California Street and Brewington Avenue. The suspects have not been found, and it is unknown what type of object was used to shatter the window.

11:00 p.m.—A 43 year-old-woman was arrested for DUI and for driving without a liscense. The arrest occurred at a traffic stop near East Lake and Brewington Avenues. The woman's blood alcohol content was .26 and .27, and she was transported to Santa Cruz County Jail for housing. She had one 20 year old passenger with her. 

Tues, Dec. 27

1:34 a.m.— An arrest was made on the 300 block of Locust Street for carrying a concealed weapon. No further details have been released at this point regarding the type of weapon or person carrying it.
