Police Blotter: Gas Station Robbed

The following arrest information was provided by the Watsonville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

An East Lake Avenue gas station was robbed just before 9 p.m. Monday, Watsonville police reported.

The holdup at , at 676 E. Lake Ave., was reported at 8:53 p.m.

Two robbers—one armed with a handgun—stormed the store, demanded the two employees hand over cash and threatened to shoot if they didn't get the money, Watsonville police Sgt. Saul Gonzalez said.

They robbers got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. No shots were fired and no one was injured, police reported.

The robbers both had ski masks on. One wore a gray pullover with black pants; the other was dressed in a light-colored top and khakis, police said.

The gas station is the fourth Watsonville business robbed this month. from Wells Fargo on South Green Valley Road on Feb. 3; on Freedom Boulevard on Feb. 7 and, the following night, —in the same strip mall as the cell phone store—during a botched robbery. The shopkeeper was shot in the ear and is recovering.

No arrests have been made in any of the robberies and police have not said if the crimes are connected.

"It's really hard to tell," Gonzalez said. "We're not excluding them but there are very few similarities."

4:06 p.m.—A 28-year-old woman hid items in a diaper bag when she tried to shoplift from Kmart on Freedom Boulevard. She was caught leaving without paying and arrested. The woman also has prior theft-related convictions.
