Police Blotter: Girls Steal Car

The following arrest information was provided by the Watsonville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Three teenage girls joyriding in a red Ford Mustang crashed early Monday and tried to run, but all three were arrested, Watsonville police reported.

The girls collided with another car on Riverside Drive and Main Street around 6:38 a.m., just minutes after the Mustang had been reported stolen from a Carey Avenue home, police said. The car's owner said he had left the car running in his driveway to warm up.

spotted the Mustang at Rodriguez and Second streets and pulled it over. He detained the driver, but the two other girls ran. Another officer caught up to those girls a block away, according to police.

All three were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, possessing stolen property and resisting arrest. The driver also was booked on for driving without a license, police said. The girls were taken to Juvenile Hall in Felton. Their names were not released because they are minors.

6:57 a.m.—Edward Arguello Velez, 19, was arrested for being drunk in public when police responded to a fight on the 600 block of Tuttle Avenue. He ran from cops and was picked up on the 700 block of Lake Village Drive.

12:22 p.m.—A thief stole a purse from an unlocked car on the 100 block of Rodriguez Way sometime during the day.

2:05 p.m.—A 2005 Buick Rendezvous was reported stolen on the 600 block of Lincoln Street.

8:02 p.m.—Marcus Kelly was stopped for a vehicle code violation and arrested for using drugs. He was arrested on West Beach and Union street.

8:15 p.m.—David Heinrichs Jr, 43, was got a ticket for battery for allegedly throwing a flashing at another person's mouth on the 100 block of Crespi Court.

Saturday, Nov. 19

1:55 a.m.—Benjamin Chavez was arrested for a probation violation on the 900 block of Lake Village Drive.

5:05 a.m.—Police handled a drug and probation violation case on the 500 block of Main Street.

3:08 p.m.—Oscar Meza was arrested on three warrants on Alexander and Union streets.

8:24 p.m.—Two 16-year-olds were in a vacant house without permission and were arrested for probation violations. Police sent them home with their parents.

Friday, Nov. 18

12:34 a.m.—A car burglar broke into a vehicle on the 1100 block of South Green Valley Road and stole a bag.

8:13 a.m.—Two burglars stole a computer tower and $80 from Salud Para La Gente's dental office on the 200 block of East Beach Street.

4:05 p.m.—A thief grabbed a vendor's cash box during the Farmers Market at the City Plaza. The thief ran east down East Beach Street but wasn't caught.

5:54 p.m.—Jose Guzman, 19, Maria Ortiz, 21 and Milia Crawford, 24, were ticketed for embezzlement and criminal conspiracy on the 1700 block of Freedom Boulevard. They were given court dates.

8:01 p.m.—Carrie Courrejou, 54, was arrested for being drunk in public on the 100 block of West Beach Street. Marshall Taylor allegedly violated a criminal protective order and police are getting a warrant for his arrest.

Thursday, Nov. 17

8:52 a.m.—A Watsonville High student's cell phone was stolen from his locker.

8 p.m.—Joseph Frank Sandoval, 35, was arrested for having crystal meth on Sudden Street and East Lake Avenue.
