Police Blotter: Gunman Shoots House, Car

The following arrest information was supplied by the Watsonville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Shots were fired at a house on the 100 block of Roosevelt Street, then at a home on the 100 block of Ford Street on Sunday morning Watsonville police reported.

Both shootings were non-injury.

The first, on Roosevelt, happened around 2:25 a.m. Cops found spent rounds inside the home and a car parked at the house but police said there was little suspect information.

Then, around 8:34 a.m., it was reported that one bullet was fired through a living room window on Ford Street.

. Police believe two men who were talking in front of the house, on the 100 block of Maple Street, were targeted in the driveby. One was shot twice in the upper legs.

Watsonville Police Log, Sunday, Aug. 7

2:11 a.m.—Cesar Espinoza, 27, was arrested for drunk in public on the 100 block of Main Street.

4:04 a.m.—A woman scared off two thieves who tried to break into her vehicle on the 100 block of Roosevelt Street.

6:55 a.m.—A car burglar shattered a window on a vehicle and stole items on 200 block of Prospect Street. There was a similar smash-and-grab car burglary reported on the 1400 block of Main Street at 10:45 a.m.

8:52 a.m.—A vandal keyed a car parked on the 100 block of Quinn Avenue.

10:25 a.m.—A robber hit a person on the hand with a stick and stole $100 from the person's pocket. The crime happened on the Pajaro River levee near Coolidge Avenue.

6:02 p.m.—Jose Cruz was arrested for public intoxication on the third level of the West Beach Street parking garage.

7:35 p.m.—Almendra Enriquez was ejected from the Strawberry Festival but refused to leave so she was arrested for resisting arrest.

Saturday, Aug. 6

8:27 a.m.—June Jay Lawrence, 48, was arrested for vandalism and resisting arrest on the 100 block of West Beach Street.

3:26 p.m.—Brad Glenn Maynard, 30, tried to use a fake $1,000 money order at the Freedom Post Office. Police are getting a warrant.

3:08 p.m.—Rogelio Meza, 20, Alexis Rodriguez, 18, and a 16-year-old boy were arrested after allegedly chasing two men around the Discount Mall on Rodriguez Street. Police said the trio were among five Sureños involved in the near-fight. Meza tossed a fake gun and had drugs and an illegal knife, police said.

5:03 p.m.—Jose Castillo, 21, was arrested for violating his probation by allegedly hanging out with other gang members. He was picked up on the 100 block of Arthur Road, ticketed at the police station and released.

5:32 p.m.—Cesar Viorato, 34, was arrested for a warrant on Roache Road at Carey Avenue.

5:57 p.m.—A teenage gang member was arrested on the 100 block of Second Street for having a weapon, a violation of his probation.

5:59 p.m.—Francisco Ortiz-Hernandez, 23, was arrested on the 400 block of Rodriguez Street for violating his probation.

6:28 p.m.—A 17-year-old gang member was cited on the 300 block of Main Street for violating his probation.

8 p.m.—Daniel Cruz-Gutierrez, 20, was arrested on Airport and Freedom boulevards for allegedly driving while drunk and on cocaine.

8:07 p.m.—A teenager was cited and released to his mom for allegedly violating his probation. He was picked up on the Pajaro River levee at Loughead Street.

10:15 p.m.—Police did a parole search of Daniel Vasquez's house on the 200 block of Carey Avenue. He was arrested.

11:03 p.m.—Ivan Ortiz Avalos, 18, was arrested for public intoxication on the 100 block of Wagner Avenue.

11:22 p.m.—Nolberto Froylan was arrested on the 1100 block of Green Valley Road after someone called 911 to report a man walking around a parking lot there with a knife in his hand. Froylan, 29, was arrested for public intoxication.

Friday, Aug. 5

6 p.m.—Juan Rocha, 26, was stopped on the 300 block of East Lake Avenue for expired tags on his car. Both he and a passenger, 20-year-old Jorge Salgado, had warrants and were arrested. Police also found drugs in the car.

7:20 p.m.—Salvador Muñoz was cited for battering a soccer ref at Ramsay Park.

8:23 p.m.—A teenager was arrested on Main and East Front streets because he had a knife on him, which violates his probation.

8:29 p.m.—A woman was groped by a stranger on the 100 block of Bright View Court. Police are investigating the case as a sexual battery.

9:35 p.m.—Dorina Uvalles, 25, was cited for two warrants on Main Street north of Holm Road.

10:38 p.m.—An SUV was stopped for having a light out on Airport Boulevard at Holohan Road. The driver, Gabriel Maez, 18, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested for violating their probation. Maez also is not a licensed driver so the SUV was impounded.

Thursday, Aug. 4

12:56 p.m.—Burglars stole a 50-inch TV and a 2007 Nissan Versa from a home on the 200 block of Holm Road. The car was found idling in an intersection with the TV inside. The burglars had fled.

4:55 p.m.—Maria Christina Castañeda, 24, was cited for a warrant on West Front and West Walker streets.

6:38 p.m.—Larry Najar and Selso Gonzalez Gutierrez were picked up for warrants on Pennsylvania Drive and Main Street.

8:46 p.m.—Burglars stole electronics from a house on the 100 block of Lighthouse Drive sometime Thursday.

11:25 p.m.—A teenage boy who was smoking pot in a car on Marchant Street and Riverside Drive was arrested. He also had a switchblade on him and was taken to Juvenile Hall.
