Police Blotter: Guns Seized During Raid

The following arrest information was provided by the Watsonville Police Department and the Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

The county's Gang Task Force raided a gang member's home in Watsonville on Wednesday and nabbed a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun and a rifle, the unit reported.

Hugo Ruiz, 30, was arrested when armed officers searched his house, at 24 Hill Ave., according to Watsonville Police Sgt. Eric Montalbo, supervisor of the Gang Task Force.

Montalbo also reported that officers found gang paraphernalia that links Ruiz to a Norteño gang. Ruiz was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as gang charges.

Sheriff's Office Log, Tuesday, Dec. 13

3:30 p.m.—Robbers aimed a shotgun at a man in his own backyard and stole his marijuana and a cell phone. The armed holdup happened on Carlene Court.

4:15 p.m.—A car burglar stole an iPhone from a vehicle at West Beach Road at Pajaro Dunes.

6:09 p.m.—A man was arrested for interferring with deputies who had responded to a distrubance at his Trembley Lane home.

Watsonville Police Log, Wednesday, Dec. 14

4:08 p.m.—A burglar stole items from a house on the 100 block of Porta Vista Court. The burglar was injured during the crime and left blood on a broken window and the floor.

9:09 p.m.—A thief stole Christmas deocrations worth $90 from the front porch and an outside tree at house on the 100 block of Franich Drive.

Tuesday, Dec. 13

12:52 p.m.—A 25-year-old man was arrested for petty theft on the 1700 block of Freedom Boulevard. Police said he gave officers a fake name and two phony ID cards.

5:59 p.m.—A burglar stole a 32-inch plasma TV from a home on the 100 block of Sudden Street.

Monday, Dec. 12

1:51 a.m.—A 20-year-old man was arrested for DUI on the 100 block of Hollowview Lane.

2 a.m.—A 21-year-old man violated a restraining order when he went to his ex-girlfriend's apartment on the 300 Clifford Avenue.

4:32 p.m.—A 20-year-old man was arrested for trespassing on the 100 block of Crespi Way.

5:25 p.m.—A teenage girl shoplifted from a store on the 1400 block of Main Street.

8:56 a.m.—A 28-year-old man was arrested for being drunk in public at Stanford and Madison streets.
