Police Blotter: Man Reportedly Shot At While Driving

The following arrest information was supplied by the Watsonville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

An anonymous shooting, and arrests from drug possession, were the main events from this weekend and Friday's police blotter.

Sunday, June 26

1:00 a.m.— A 19-year old man reported that he was shot at while driving his vehicle in the area of Magnolia Drive and Lawrence Ave. Evidence was collected of a bullet from his vehicle, but no suspect information was provided, and the case was closed due to a lack of leads.

9:56 a.m.— During a consensual contact on the 1900 block of Freedom Boulevard, Stephen Gonzalez was arrested for possession for sales of about 17.6 grams of methamphetamine and pharaphernalia. He was arrested, and booked in a county jail.

9:35 p.m.— Police arrested Ariel Ramirez-Cruz and Gerardo Tapia for being under the influence of a controlled substance on the 100 block of Lincoln Street. Ariel Ramirez was also arrested for having an outstanding warrant.

9:00 a.m.—Unknown suspects entered home on the 800 block of Lake Village Drive and stole a boys’ BMX vehicle, but nothing else. The case was suspended due to a lack of leads.

4:00 p.m.— Unknown suspects pried open the windows of two parked, locked vehicles and removed items from inside. There is no witness or suspect information, and the case is closed.

Friday, June 24

12:38 a.m.—Oscar Chavez, 23, was stopped in his vehicle for a vehicle code violation at the 100 block of Madison Street. He was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and in possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken to Santa Cruz County Jail.

4:58 p.m.— Hugo Diaz, 28, was arrested for being under the influence of heroin and for two felony arrests warrants on the 100 block of Palm Ave. He was booked into county jail.

7:04 p.m.— An unidentified suspect scratched both sides and the hood of the victim’s truck and stole the tailgate at Menker Street and W. Riverside Drive. The case was suspended due to a lack of information.
