Police Blotter: Man Runs From Robbery Attempt

Also, a house's alarm system scared off a burglar and a drunk man stole a car.

A man told police two robbers tried to steal money from him Wednesday night, then punched him in the face, Watsonville police reported.

The attempted robbery happened around 9:50 p.m. near California and Alma streets. The man said the robbers pointed a dark object at him and one hit him, but nothing was taken, police reported.

The would-be robbers ran to a dark vehicle and drove away eastbound on California Street, police said.

12:38 a.m.—A 32-year-old wanted man was found sleeping in a car on the 800 block of Tuttle Way. He was arrested for a warrant.

Wednesday, Aug. 22

12:34 a.m.—Two teenage boys were arrested for having switchblade knives on the 100 block of West Front Street.

3:05 a.m.—A 30-year-old man was arrested for being drunk in public on Main Street and East Lake Avenue.

8:24 a.m.—A burglar who got into a house through an open window ran out the front door when the home's alarm sounded. It happened on the 600 block of Palm Avenue.

8:26 a.m.—A 42-year-old man was arrested on a felony warrant on the 500 block of Bridge Street.

2:23 p.m.—Two men, ages 18 and 21, were arrested when officers were called to a near-fight at Clifford Manor. They were violating the terms of their gang probation.

10:53 p.m.—A 32-year-old man was arrested for stealing a woman's car and driving under the influence of alcohol on the 600 block of Lincoln Street.

Tuesday, Aug. 21

5:39 a.m.—A 25-year-old woman reported her purse was stolen near Muzzio Park.

8:54 a.m.—Theives stole a ceramic tile water fountain and flower pot from the 100 block of Brennan Street sometime in the past four days.

10:17 a.m.—A car was broken into on the 100 block of Holly Drive.

11:35 a.m.—Checks stolen from the in April were forged and cashed at La Princesa Market.

3:34 p.m.—A 63-year-old man took items from Home Depot, then tried to return them as if he'd already purchased them. He was arrested for petty theft; it's the third time he's faced that charge from an incident at Home Depot.

4 p.m.—A car was burglarized on the 300 block of Main Street.

5:40 p.m.—A 15-year-old girl attacked a 14-year-old girl at . Both are Watsonville High students and they haven't been getting along at school.

5:57 p.m.—A 34-year-old man was put under citizen's arrest for battery on the 100 block of Grant Avenue. He got a ticket from police officers.

6:53 p.m.—Two patrons at Guadalajara Market orderd meat and sodas, which they left with and didn't pay for. The market is on the 1300 block of Freedom Boulevard.

9 p.m.—A car burglar smashed a vehicle window and stole property on the 600 block of Orchard Street.

Sheriff's Office Log, Aug. 19

2:54 a.m.—A ma nwas arrested for public intoxciation after being disruptive to family members. He was arrested at Devon and Green Valley Road.

Aug. 18

4:30 p.m.—A car was burglarized on Sunset Beach Road.

Aug. 17

8:19 a.m.—A search of a home on the 100 block of Whitney Drive turned up a methamphetamine pipe. A man was arrested.
