Police Blotter: Rash of Car Break-Ins

The following arrest information was provided by the Watsonville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A car burglar targeted a neighborhood of South Green Valley Road late Tuesday or early Wednesday, the Watsonville Police Department reported.

Three unlocked cars parked on the 100 block of Pera Drive were broken into overnight. At one, the burglar got into the truck and tried to steal the car stereo. Police said the faceplate was removed but nothing was actually taken.

A pair of sunglasses was taken from another vehicle and, from the third, the thief took the car registration and a random key, police said. All of the thefts happened overnight.

Watsonville Police Log, Wednesday, Jan. 18

1:20 p.m.—Someone removed wooden boards from a security fence on the 1900 block of Freedom Boulevard, converting the fence into a gate. People like to use the property as a shortcut, which is trespassing.

5:02 p.m.—Police took a report of embezzlement that occurred within the past month.

11:05 p.m.—A car with expired tags was pulled over on Roache Road at Whitney Drive. The woman driving had two felony warrants and was arrested.
