At least seven car break-ins were reported in Watsonville since Saturday, police reported.
Door locks were jimmied or "punched out" on locked vehicles, many on Hill Avenue.
Vehicles were burglarized on the:
- 100 and 300 blocks of Hill Avenue overnight Saturday.
- 700 block of Hill Avenue sometime during the weekend.
- 100 block of Vista Verde court on Saturday or Sunday.
- 100 block of Blackburn Street on Sunday.
- 100 block of Franich Drive overnight Saturday.
- 4400 blcokof Dunlap Crossing Street on Monday. Unlike the other break-ins, this car was not locked.
Also, a portable generator was snatched out of the bed of a truck parked on the 100 block of Atkinson Lane on Friday night or Saturday morning. The generator is worth more than $950.
Police generally recommend not leaving valuables in vehicles and, when possible, to park cars in secure areas, such as a garage, to deter break-ins.
