Police Blotter: School Thefts Continue

The following arrest information was supplied by the Watsonville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A thief hit another school at the end of last week, Watsonville police reported.

Staff at Radcliff Elementary reported a laptop stolen around 11 a.m. Friday. The case was forwarded to Watsonville police detectives, who have been investigating a series of burglaries at Pajaro Valley Unified School District schools.

Since April, 16 other burglaries have been reported, according to the Sheriff's Office. last week on suspicion of one of the thefts.

PVUSD schools are located in both the city of Watsonville, which is patrolled by the police department, and the unincorporated county area—the sheriff's jurisdiction—so the two law enforcement agencies are collaborating on the break-ins.

12:30 a.m.—Omar Venegas, 21, was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Main and Second streets.

1:15 a.m.—Police arrested Castro Luna Jr., 33, during a kidnapping and battery investigation on the 300 block of Main Street.

2:33 a.m.—Alejandro Avalos, 19, was arrested for being drunk in public on the 100 block of Airport Boulevard.

2:55 a.m.—Dian Gradone, 52, was arrested for being drunk in public and a warrant on East Lake Avenue and Lincoln Street.

9:39 p.m.—A teenager cut off his court-ordered ankle monitor and fled his house. He was found on the 100 block of Ford Street and arrested.

Saturday, June 4

3:34 a.m.—Miguel Sanchez Lopez, 39, was arrested for being drunk in public on the 100 block of Roache Road.

11:35 a.m.—Gonzalo Samudio was cited for an outstanding warrant when police were called to a noninjury car crash on the 1400 block of Main Street.

1:35 p.m.—Angel Sanchez, 20, was pulled over on Freedom Boulevard at Gardner Avenue for a vehicle violation but had a warrant and was taken to jail.

4:27 p.m.—Drew Patrick Milburn, 27, was pulled over after people called 911 to report his car swerving down the road, running a stop sign and nearly hitting another car. He was stopped on Main Street at Ohlone Parkway and arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of prescription drugs.

9 p.m.—Armando Zuniga, 37, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public on the 200 block of Union Street.

11:38 p.m.—Ivan Suarez was arrested for a warrant on the 100 block of West Beach Street. He was also booked on suspicion of resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.

11:44 p.m.—Francisco Ibarra, 19 was arrested on suspicion of being on drugs on Lawrence Avenue at Kralj Drive.

Friday, June 3

12:22 a.m.—A vandal broke two windows on a company tow truck parked on the 200 block of Prospect Street.

11:32 a.m.—Porfirio Melgoza, 30, was cited for driving his vehicle without a license on the 600 block of Main Street.

11:45 a.m.—A vandal scratched three vehicles at . The vandalism happened in the past three days. The vandal was caught on camera.

3:22 p.m.—Armando Fernandez, 33, was aggressive when police arrested him on Main Street and Holm Road on suspicion of being on drugs. They took him to the hospital, where he allegedly kicked one cop and tried to bite another.

5:26 p.m.—Alvaro Carrillo was cited for a misdemeanor warrant on Brewington Avenue at California Street.

10:55 p.m.—Fernando Sanguino, 21, and a teenage boy were arrested when they tried to walk away from a police officer who had told them to stop on Trafton and Marchant streets. Police requested a warrant for a third young man who was with them, Armando Espinoza.

11:13 p.m.—Edgar Garcia was arested for being on drugs at Main and Peck streets.

11:22 p.m.—Jose Chavez Martinez, 30, was arrested for being drunk in public on the 100 block of Maple Street.
