Police Blotter: Shots Fired at House

A 17-year-old was caught allegedly stealing a car. Police also dealt with knives, a girl fight and a hit-and-run during the weekend.

A gunman fired six shots at an Airport Road house late Sunday but the two people home at the time were not hurt, Watsonville police reported.

The shooting was reported just after 11 p.m. Officers collected shell casings from a semiautomatic gun at the scene. No arrests were made.

"No one saw anything. No one heard anything," Sgt. Saul Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said the house may have been targeted, because past residents had gang ties, however, those people had moved out.

In an unrelated case, a 17-year-old boy previously convicted of car theft was arrested Sunday morning for allegedly stealing a black 1997 Ford Mustang, Watsonville police said.

The car's owner saw it being taken from Melwood Court around 10 a.m. A cop spotted the car about 30 minutes later backing out of a parking lot in the Green Meadow area, police said.

The officer tried to stop the car, but the driver ran away. He was caught by police nearby. Officers said the teen already was on probation for a prior vehicle theft and also had a warrant. He was booked into Juvenile Hall.
